JUNIOR CERVILA  & GUADALUPE GARCIA

Junior Cervila was considered by New York newspapers "the Gene Kelly of Latin Dance". Originally born in Brazil and based in Buenos Aires, where the tango got into his blood, has a extensive professional history that includes performances on Broadway (NY) at Gershwin theatre with "Tango Argentino", also performed at Lincoln Center and Town Hall in New York, danced in the film "Tango" by Carlos Saura, nominated for the Academy Award as Best Foreign Film and travelled the world with the show of Julio Iglesias. He filmed for the BBC with the prima ballerina of the Royal Ballet of London, Deborah Bull, and developed one of the leading roles in the successful musicals "Tanguera", "Piazzolla Tango" and "Tangorama". He was elected to a private tango show the Rolling Stones on tour in Argentina in 2007.

He danced with the orchestra of Daniel Barenboim in late 2006.  He danced in Buenos Aires at Luna Park, Gran Rex, Teatro Opera, Teatro Colon and the Nueve de Julio in a historic concert of "Tango Argentino" to 15000 people.


Since 2001 runs his own company "Latin Dance Company" in which fuses salsa, tango, samba and flamenco. He is considered by many as the best and most versatile dancer nowadays.
He starred "Tanguera in Amsterdam, London (Saddlers Wells), Basel, Munich, Paris (Theatre du Chateler), and traveled USA, Moscow and Italy with his own show.
2014 to 2016- He was the choreographer of "Piazzolla Tango" and "Tango Porteño". Two of the most prominent tango shows in Buenos Aires seasons. Also he is the judge of the finals Tango world Championship.

Guadalupe Garcia started dancing when she was 5 years old with Argentine Folklore and at 12 she started with tango.
When she was 18 she got the degree of Argentinean Folk teacher.

2004‐2010 ‐ Member of the UBALLET (Ballet de la Universidad de Buenos Aires), Mora Godoy's Tango Company, Juan Corvalán's Tangomalambo's Company, and Roberto Herrera's Company, with tours which travelled worldwide.

Adriana Salgado and Orlando Reyes have been professional dancers and teachers of Argentine Tango for over twenty years. With background in classical ballet, they went to study Tango in Buenos Aires under auspices of renowned tango masters.

International performances include United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Aruba, Argentina Canada, Indonesia and their native Colombia. They are based in New York since 2007 where they have taught and performed at many tango venues nationwide. In New York City, their performances include: NY Tango Festival in 2007, "Tango Intimo", in 2008,"Tango Connection" and "Tango Noir" in 2008 and 2009 and "Tango por Ellos", in 2009, which received the nomination in the Latin ACE Award 2010 for Best choreography.They have been also guest teachers and performers at “Dancing at Sea”, a dance cruise company for Holland America, Norwegian and Royal Princess 2012-2013. Other stage performances were at Tango Malbec House in New York City 2012-2014.

Their smooth, romantic, elegant style and solid connection make their Tango Salon and Stage performances outstanding. Their teaching focuses on the subtleties of the connection, posture and overall technique fundamentals. Their passion, love and constant dedication for Argentine Tango is palpable and has won them recognition with awards at home where they have been acclaimed as one of the best representative couples of Colombia. In 2018, they placed second on the Tango Competition “Pelando Variacion” held in New York City and more recently they became official ATUSA 2019 Tango Champions in Stage category, 2nd place in Tango de Pista, and will be representing the USA at the Tango Worldwide Champion in Argentina.

Julián Castaño is a Tango Performers and Instructor from Colombia with 18 years of experience teaching and performing Tango.
He is presently in Boston as a choreographer for the Dance Troupe, Bajucol, which will perform in Boston in May.

He is the founder, choreographer and director of Releve Tango in Colombia. Together with his partner, Karla Rotavinsky , has won many awards and recognitions including:

--First Place in Manizales, Colombia on the Category of Tango Fantasia in January 2019.

Karla Rotavinsky is a Tango Performers and Instructor from Colombia with 18 years of experience teaching and performing Tango.
She is presently in Boston to perform for the Dance Troupe, Bajucol, in their May festival.

Silvana Briuela-Weigel (dancer/performer) born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, began her studies in that city at the "Escuela Nacional de Danzas" and at the prestigious worldwide "Teatro Colón"; from where she obtained a postgraduate degree in Ballet and took part dancing in various Opera and Ballet productions, including Giselle, Carmen, The Nutcracker, Walpurgis Night -from Fausto-, Don Quixote, and Tannhäuser. Later on, she got admitted at the school of the "Teatro Municipal General San Martín", continuing her dance training and learning all the major Contemporary Dance Techniques, as well as Choreography Composition.While keeping that vast training and work simultaneously, she studied Tango with Mingo & Esther Pugliese, Eduardo Sotelo & Ivonne Laens, Rodolfo Dinzel, Julio Balmaceda, plus Natalia Games& Gabriel Angió.

She has been performing and teaching for more than 20 years at various noteworthy venues and Festivals in Buenos Aires and USA.
Nowadays, Silvana works organizing events, teaching and performing mostly in New York, New Jersey, and in Boston at Dance Union in Somerville,

In order to clarify Tango Principles, enhance and improve transmitting skills; she practices Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan and the ancient Chinese art of Nei-Kung. Her teaching emphasizes on technique, partner connection and improvisation.

JOSE ROJAS

Jose Rojas is a professional dancer and instructor of traditional Argentinian folkloric dance.
Jose comes from Parana, Entre Rios, Argentina, where he ventured into dancing at the young age of six. Since then, Jose has participated in various renowned folkloric contests and festivals throughout Argentina, such as el Festival Nacional de Baradero in 2010, gaining recognition as best new dance couple; and becoming a finalist at el Festival Nacional de Cosquin in 2011 in the category for best dance ensemble. In 2014, Jose was invited to dance alongside the famed folkloric musician Jaime Torres during his performance in the city of Parana.
 
His passion for dancing motivated Jose to venture into other styles of dancing. He started ballet at the age of twenty-one at the Municipal Dance School of Parana and continued his practice at the Carla Tista Art Studio where he had the opportunity of taking dance lessons alongside world renowned dance instructors like Raquel Rossetti, Alejandro Totto and Inaki Urlezaga; and also learning jazz and contemporary style dancing.
 

Jose’s versatility in learning other dance forms, gave him the chance to participate in two important ballets co-produced between the Municipal Dance School of Parana and the famed Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires: Don Quijote in 2010 and Giselle in 2011, in which he shared the stage with first dancers from Teatro Colon like Silvina Perillo, Edgardo Trabalon, Nadia Muzyca and Gerardo Wyss, to name a few. 

 

In 2015, Jose earned a full scholarship through an audition to attend the Contemporary Jazz Summer Intensive at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. Such was his good performance that he was given a second full scholarship to return to Joffrey and complete the 2015-2016 school year. 

 

In 2016, Jose was invited by the famed Argentinian folkloric musician Roberto Carabajal to dance during his performances during the artist’s United States tour. He has also been invited to dance for events at the Argentinian Consulate in New York City; and to represent Argentina at many Latin American events in the United States. 

 

At the present time, Jose continues to evolve as a dancer by learning new styles. He joined the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company where he dances traditional Mexican folk dance. He also continues to work as a dancer and choreographer of Argentinian folk dance, ballet and contemporary styles.

GUILLERMO SALVAT & MIRIAM LEA

Guillermo Salvat is an internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer and teacher, with 20 years of career in the elite of Argentine Tango world. He has danced, taught, choreographed and directed shows in more than 30 countries, on the five continents: from Australia to Europe, from China and Japan to South Africa, and in the entire American continent. At the beginning of his career he integrated the cast of TangoX2, La Esquina Carlos Gardel and Rojo Tango in Buenos Aires. Represented Argentina in the World Expo of Hannover, Nagoya and Shanghai. He has been presented in some of the most prestigious stages around the world, such as the Sydney Opera House, the Kremlin Theater in Moscow, the Brancaccio in Rome, the Canecao from Rio de Janeiro, the Luna Park in Buenos Aires, among many others. In addition to being part of prestigious companies like TangoX2, Solo Tango, Tango&Fire, Guillermo was called to choreograph and direct shows in Australia and New Zealand (Estampas Porteñas), Colombia (Magic of Tango) United States (Masters of Tango). In 2006, Guillermo opened his own company, and as creative director released the show TANGO-A-TIERRA, which has already been presented in Buenos Aires, South Africa, Hong Kong, Russia, Ukraine, Chile and Brazil, in 40 cities on 4 continents, with extraordinary success of the public and critics. With broad international experience in teaching and coaching, it outstands his participation in the most important international festivals in the world, such as those of Rome, Genoa, Baden Baden, Torino, Vladivostok, the USTC Tango Fantasy from Miami, the festivals of New York, Washington, San Francisco, Florida, Vancouver, Boston, Medellín among others. Guillermo was called as a jury of official competitions in New York, Medellín, and the official Buenos Aires World Championship. Guillermo is also a multi-instrumentalist musician, with a solo album released in 2015.

Miriam Lea is a dancer and choreographer in Tango Argentino, internationally acclaimed, with 15 years of experience in the field of performing arts and social dance. Her background includes Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Argentine Tango and Folklore. She has performed in some of the most prestigious venues in the US and Argentina, and worked for government organizations and universities, such as the City of Chicago and Buenos Aires, and the Universities of Indiana, California, Minneapolis and St. Thomas. Her driving performances took her to be featured in theatre and television. She has shared the stage with renowned stars of Tango and the Arts, in venues like the Teatro Alvear, Astral, Empire, Coliseo, and some of the most important theatres in Buenos Aires and Latin America. She starred in many dance companies, such as Tango and Company, Pampa Gauchos Dance Company, La Revuelta, and Complejo Tango. She performed for major brands like Nike, Adidas, Allstate Insurance and Heineken. Miriam has performed in the most traditional “milongas” of Buenos Aires, where the authentic tango is cultivated: Salon Canning, Torquato Tasso, Porteño y Bailarín, Villa Malcom. She graduated in Fine Arts and Music from Columbia College in Chicago, and attended her Master Degree studies on Art Education at Indiana University. Miriam is highly appreciated for her technical and precise approach in dance, her captivating performing style and her versatility and work ethic in the dance industry.

Maurizio Najt (Piano)

 

Maurizio Najt graduated at Conservatorio Nacional de Musica de Buenos Aires.
Played an important role as a tango pianist in the New York tango revival during the 90's.
He has played in countless milongas and tango shows throughout the US playing along master bandoneonists such as Raul Jaurena, Tito Castro, Héctor del Curto and Victor Lavallén.
Composed and recorded the original music for the acclaimed off-Broadway musical theater show "Don Quixxxote", which was nominated for an ACE award, and the children's tango musical "A Tango for Tita", which recently won an ACE award for best direction.
Collaborated with Academy-Award winning film director Ang Lee, arranging and recording for the film "Lust Caution".

 

Currently he works as a Ballet Pianist at Astoria Fine Arts Center, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts and Broadway Dance Center in NYC.
Toured Japan, Korea and Hawaii with Japanese tango diva Anna Saeki, recently performing at Blue Note in NYC. Performed with the Forever Tango Orchestra (Luis Bravo's Tony winning production) touring the US, Mexico, Japan and China, and most recently a ten week run on Broadway during the summer of '13 followed by a Boston and Maryland tour.

Pablo Lanouguere (Bass)

Pablo Lanouguere was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Pablo Lanouguere  is an active musician and composer. He plays Electric and Double Bass. He has participated in many and diverse musical projects over the past ten years, including: Tango, Folklore, and Jazz music.
He has studied Harmony and Composition with Nestor Ibarra, Electric Bass with: Mariano Otero, Gustavo Giles, Guillermo Delgado and Alejandro Herrera; Double Bass with: Daniel Falasca (Philarmonic Bs. As.) and Pedro Giraudo; and he has a Degree in Jazz music in EMPA (Escuela de Musica Popular de Avellaneda) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Nowadays, he resides in New York City.
He has played at some of the most important venues in NYC, such as Carnegie Hall, Zinc Bar, Bryant Park (music festival), SOB'S, Rockwood Music Hall, among others, with artists such as Raul Jaurena, Daniel Binelli & Astoria Tango Orchestra, Fernando Otero, Adam Tully, Emilio Solla, Federico Diaz and many others. He has also toured around USA with Alejandro Ziegler Tango Quartet. He regularly plays around the city with different Tango, Jazz, Latin-Jazz, Swing, Salsa, Classical and World Music artists and bands. Since 2016 he is founding member of Abaddon Tango Sextet.
He has been also part of theater productions: in the show Five Senses (Tango Show,2015, Thalia Spanish Theater); in Macbeth (classic Shakespeare play, 2015, Fox Wolf Production), and Afrotango ( Musical, 2016, Thalia Spanish Theater).

Javier Sanchez (Bandoneón)

Javier Sanchez was born and raised in Buenos Aires, and has been playing the bandoneón for 25 years.  He toured the globe with large well known orchestras and performance groups, such as Rodolfo Mederos Orchestra Tipica, Tango Pasion, Tanguera - Mora Godoy, Tango Emotion (returning to Japan for 5 consecutive years). Javier also played in many well known tango shows in Buenos Aires, such as El Viejo Almacén, Esquina de Carlos Gardel, Café Tortoni, Piazzolla Tango Theater, and many more.


He won First Place of the prestigious Che Bandoneon International Competition in August 2016 judged Victor Lavalle.
He now lives and plays in New York metropolitan area with Astoria Tango Orchestra and many other tango groups.

Leo Karmiy – Band Leader, Upright Bass

Leo studied Piano, Violin and Upright Bass in Ukraine. Today Leo plays Upright Bass in tango and jazz styles.
The Boston Tango Orchestra (BTO) focuses on the Golden Age Argentine tango music played at milongas (Argentine tango social dancing).

 


Ben Bushoy – Accordion

Ben studied music in Moldova and plays in a range of styles including Tango, Gypsy Jazz, and French Vals to name a few. Ben’s Accordion adds a bandoneon fill to the Orchestra.
 


Natasha Dukach – Violin

Natasha studied Violin since the early childhood. During her years at a conservatory, she started touring around the world performing Classical, Jazz, Gypsy/Balkan, Middle Eastern and Traditional Folk music. Natasha performed tango music with various musicians and bands when she first came to the US in 2009.
 


Gray Gafarov – Violin, Guitar, Bass

Gray studied Violin in the Cologne conservatory Germany and bass at the NEC. He is a young aspiring local musician and plays in a number of musical styles including really cool Gipsy Jazz. You can hear him play with his band Sundays 12-3 at the Bebop Restaurant in Boston.
 


Santon – Piano, Violin

Blind from birth and autistic, Santon graduated from the Berklee College of Music with Summa Cum Laude. He plays in a number of styles including classical, jazz and tango. Rogelio Hector Caceres (Roy Caceres) was born in Cordoba, Argentina. Roy was for 20 years a member of a folk group (Los Cuatro Rumbos) but he is also a chef and he owned a restaurant in Las Varillas, Cordoba, Argentina.   He performed with Los Cuatro Rumbos for 20 years singing Folklore traveling to many cities of Argentina and also on the stage of Cosquin, a very prestigious venue for Folklore artists.


At the same time, he also performed Tango with different orchestras and on many prestigious Tango stages.
 
He currently resides in Concord Massachusetts and continues to perform.

SANTON (Anton Sviridenko) is an award winning musician who is blind and autistic with savant syndrome. He was born in 1991 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He is an alumnus of Perkins School for the Blind.


Showing musicality early, Santon began piano lessons at 3.5 years. He went on to graduate from Berklee College of Music summa cum laude. He plays multiple instruments performing classical, jazz, tango and other genres. Santon has released first two CDs in July, 2016: “Flavors of the Rainbow” – solo piano classical favorites, and “Night Animals” – CD Collins & Santon duet of spoken word with music.
Santon is a member of  the Boston Tango Orchestra and has performed in several venues in the Boston and surrounding area.


Additionally, Santon loves dancing tango, trapeze, windsurfing, skating, skiing, swimming, bicycling, and traveling.
